Baird Tours Ottawa Hospital's Stem Cell Research Labs

(Ottawa) - John Baird, MP, toured the Ottawa Hospital's Sprott Centre for Stem Cell Research today for a glance at the groundbreaking research being performed at the new facility. Dr. Jack Kitts, President and CEO of the Ottawa Hospital, greeted and escorted the Ottawa West-Nepean MP, who was very interested in the cutting edge work.

"This new facility will attract the youngest and brightest minds to the Ottawa Hospital and will help ensure that Ottawa is a leader in research and development for a long time," Baird said.

The research being done at the Sprott Centre will benefit all areas of medicine from diagnostic and preventative procedures to treatment. The tour provided insight into the level of technologies and funding needed for Ottawa Hospital to continue being a regional and national health care leader.

Baird added, "I look forward to supporting local efforts to ensure that these facilities are available for our nation's brightest individuals to contribute to the good health of our community."
