John Baird Named Honourary Commissionaire
Baird Recognized for his support of veterans and private security services in Ottawa
(Ottawa) – John Baird, Member of Parliament for the riding of Ottawa West-Nepean, has been named an “Honourary Commissionaire” at Commissionaires Ottawa. The Ottawa-born MP was recognized for his support of veterans and lauded for work done as Treasury Board President where amendments to the Common Services Policy allowed Commissionaires Ottawa to provide greater employment opportunities for retired military and RCMP personnel working as Commissionaires.
Commissionaires CEO and retired Captain (N) Paul Guindon presented Baird, now federal Environment Minister, with a certificate recognizing his effort and support of the Commissionaires. “Mr. Baird has proven to be a true champion for the causes of the Commissionaires,” said Captain Guindon. “We wish to recognize his leadership and support today. We would also like to welcome him into our family by designating him an ‘Honourary Commissionaire’.”
“It is a huge honour to be recognized by the Commissionaires today,” said Baird. “Commissionaires provide veterans with meaningful and important work, and I am proud to have done what I could to help make this organization stronger for its employees.”
Prior to being presented his certificate, the Ottawa-area MP toured the facility where he had the opportunity to meet many of the individuals that work at the National Capital Region and Northern Ontario headquarters.
